How to go to Manali

By train

Manali has no direct train service. The nearest railway station is at Kalka, near Shimla, about 280 km. From Kalka, take a local bus or taxi to Manali. Alternatively, you can take a one-way train from Kalka to Shimla and from Shimla take a local bus or take a bus to Manali.

On the side of the road

Manali is well connected by road from all parts of Himachal Pradesh like Bilaspur, Sundernagar, Mandi, Kullu and Naggar, through NH21, and especially from nearby cities like Delhi and NCR region, Chandigarh, Ambala etc. from NH1. There are state and private buses plying from these cities to Manali. But the best way to travel is to take a private car or take a taxi from Delhi or nearby cities to Manali.

By flight

There are no flights to Manali. The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport or Kullu-Manali Airport (KUU), about 50 km from Manali city. You can also book a taxi directly from Manali to reach your destination. There are few flights to Kullu from major cities and towns in North India. But these flights are not regular, so check the flight availability before planning your trip. You can also fly to Shimla airport, which is about 244 km away. From Shimla airport, you can book Shimla airport taxi to reach your destination.
