Go to the Burning Ghat
Although all the ghats are very interesting, Burning Ghat is a special place. This is where people come to stay in the hospital when they are dying. Funerals, funerals and other ceremonies take place on the banks of the Ganges at this ghat. As a tourist, you are allowed to pass the ghat, look around and take a few pictures. It’s important to remember that people are here to thank their loved ones, so be sure to be polite and use your camera. Beware of “volunteers” who will give you a “free” tour before trying to force you to donate.
Take a holy bath in the Ganges
It is clear that the holiest river in the world is also one of the dirtiest. The people of Varanasi are used to the river conditions, but many foreigners get sick from the tap water in India, not about the Ganges. During my sunrise cruise, a dead cow was floating in front of us. However, if you are brave enough and want the ultimate refuge of Varanasi, blessed by the closest river in the world, you can go inside. I decided to dive into my waste water. I didn’t get sick. Get.
The ship sails in the east
The world’s holiest river, the Ganges, is a spectacle during the day but a quiet and mysterious place at sunrise. Soft pastel colors paint the sky as a few boats pass by the river. The boat will take you across various ghats, passing many temples along the way. Even at sunrise, there is a lot to do on the banks of the Ganges, making it one of my favorite things to do in Varanasi. Villagers bathe in the morning, wash piles of clothes, and build shops and stores for a day’s shopping. I arrived at 5am and hired a sailor in seconds. I paid 250 rupees for 2 hours although you can ride for an hour for 100 rupees it depends on how much you sell. However, that’s the price as far as I’ve heard.
Experience the Aarti ceremony
It’s a must do! An Aarti ceremony is held every evening at a large ghat on the banks of the Ganges. It is a form of Hindu worship that involves worshiping a deity. I think it might be a small show to make tourists. It is very different. I was one of the few tourists among the crowd of thousands of people. This is a spiritual gathering and does not offer shows or performances to raise tourism dollars. It’s really the performance and the sheer size of the crowd that makes it so raw for me. Hundreds, if not thousands of people flock to the ghat, disembarking from boats to witness the daily sacrifice. This is one of the unique things to do in Varanasi
Blue Lassi Guide
Blue Lassi is an open-air cafe, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2015. It has always been a family business and the hundreds of photos on the walls testify to it. A lassi is a yogurt drink, but they are a little more like Blue Lassi than your average high street cup. A man sits on a small porch overlooking the hand-crafted, lassi that comes in a variety of flavors. You can choose the flavor of peach, mango, banana, pomegranate, or many other flavors before choosing your food. That’s pretty cool stone cold of Varanasi! My personal recommendation is either chocolate/banana/coconut or coffee. Try to stop just one! I ended up coming back several times and it quickly became my favorite thing to do in Varanasi.
